Six years ago I became an American citizen. My friends thought it was only fitting that I treat my family to an all-American Thanksgiving feast at my house, and they gave me a list of must-have dishes to prepare. Needless to say, I cooked for 48 hours straight, made ten times more food than we could ever consume, and was too exhausted to fully enjoy the dinner and the company by the evening time. Six years later, we're still going strong with our Thanksgiving dinners, but we also became good at the divide-and-conquer approach. So, these days, Thanksgiving is the day when I make a point of of keeping my inner perfectionist tucked away, and just... relax!
By now, the number of American citizens in the family at the table has gone up, and we have also added two high chairs to the side of the dinner table.
This year, more than anything, I am grateful for high chairs.
